Jazz vocalist René Marie, a 2015 Grammy nominee for her recent tribute album to Eartha Kitt, will open with her Quintet at the Avalon on Friday night. Marie is one of America’s most interesting and compelling artists with a style that incorporates a distinctly American mélange of jazz, soul, blues, folk and gospel.
