About

Dreyer is known widely as a saxophonist, flutist, and composer. She leads a top-flight quartet of international artists in a program of New York-flavored Brazilian jazz. She has headlined at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Festival, and the Syracuse Jazz Festival. She has also performed at many of New York City’s top clubs, including the Blue Note, Cornelia St. Cafe's "New Brazilian Jazz Perspectives" series, and Birdland, to name a few.

Dreyer was a founding member and contributing arranger for the big band DIVA, playing both lead alto and tenor with the band for six years. She has pursued her passion for Brazilian music for over 20 years, while also cutting a strong path in American jazz. Performing widely in popular Latin jazz bands and in her own Brazilian jazz band in the USA and Brazil, Dreyer is often the only female in the ensemble. Her band for this concert features incomparable pianist Tim Murphy and rhythm players Leonardo and Alejandro Lucini from Rio de Janeiro. Listeners will enjoy beloved Brazilian jazz classics and original contemporary Brazilian jazz by Dreyer, an artist known for her authentic renditions and catchy, lyrical melodies. Two of her originals included in the program are a samba called “Caminhos Novos,” meaning, “New Paths,” and “Beira do Mar—Baião (“Edge of the Sea”). ...
